Dryers are the first choice for drying materials. In practical drying operation, the fan collocated on the dryer should meet the following aspects firstly:

First, determine the fan transformation plan on the existing drying equipment system for the needs of production increase, efficiency promotion, etc.

Second, when the fan’s operating condition changed, check the fan’s capacity.

Third, choose appropriate fans for newly built projects.

About the first aspect, it usually requires to determine the air volume variation scale of the fan on the basis of the practical production needs, and thereby decide the fan transformation plan.

With respect to the second aspect, when the air temperature around the fun changes, especially the actual temperature is far below the described temperature, the motor will operates overloaded, causing electric motor burnout when serious.

When it comes to the third aspect, firstly, we should determine the mass flow rate and total head pressure of the fan according to the output capacity and resistance of the drying system. In regard to the single induced draft fan system, we should ensure that the total pressure is greater than the system resistance. For the double forced-induced draft fan system, the sum of the two fan’s total pressure should be greater than the sum of the system resistance. When choosing a fan, we generally accord with the fan curve to determine which type of fan can perfectly meet the operating conditions demanded by the drying system to achieve the highest productivity.
