Production capacity is the core factor that determines plant cost. Small scale biomass pellet plants with 0.5 to 1 ton per hour capacity are suitable for personal farms and small processing workshops, featuring low initial investment and easy operation. Medium production lines of 1 to 5 tons per hour are the most popular choices for stable commercial production. Large automatic pellet plants above 5 tons per hour adopt full automatic feeding, drying, pelleting, cooling and packaging systems, which require higher equipment cost and plant construction investment.

Raw material conditions greatly change the overall budget. If your raw materials such as sawdust, wood chips, crop straw and coconut fiber keep low moisture within the standard pelleting range, you only need crushing and pelleting equipment. However, most original biomass waste contains high moisture content, ranging from 40 percent to 65 percent. In this case, you must equip a professional rotary drum dryer to reduce material moisture to 12 to 18 percent, which is the standard moisture for qualified biomass pellet molding. Adding drying system is the main reason for increased project cost.
